Misuse of Temple Funds and Suppression of Hindu Religious Education
- For the last seven decades, India has lived under a deeply unequal system where only Hindu temples, Hindu trusts, and Hindu religious institutions have been subjected to direct government control,
- While Islamic and Christian institutions have remained fully autonomous, free to use their funds as they wish, and in many cases, even receiving government aid directly or indirectly.
Worse still,
- Hindu Dharma is prohibited from being taught in government schools and colleges,
- while Islamic studies and Christian theology are fully allowed, supported, and in some cases, encouraged.
This is not a conflict between religions — it is a question of policy injustice, unequal treatment, and violation of religious neutrality.
🟥 SECTION 1 — Why are ONLY Hindu temples under government control?
For 70+ years:
🔶 Hindu temples are:
- Controlled by state governments
- Managed through Shrines Boards, Trust Acts, HRCE departments
- Temple income regulated and diverted by the State
- Temple lands often acquired or mismanaged
🔶 Meanwhile, Islamic & Christian institutions
- 100% autonomous
- Not controlled by the government
- Can freely decide how funds are used
- Receive protections, grants, and land from the State
- Run schools, colleges, hospitals without interference
This structure creates a clear religious imbalance.
🟥 SECTION 2 — Where has the money from Hindu temples gone in the last 70 years?
Hindu temple funds have been used for:
- Secular government schemes
- Infrastructure projects
- Non-Hindu welfare programs
- Minority scholarships
- Political agendas
- Government salaries & administration
Meanwhile:
- Waqf Boards receive land, funds, legal protection
- Church missions receive foreign funding + government benefits
- Muslim universities & Christian institutions operate freely
❗ In effect, Hindu temples have acted as “revenue generators for the State, while minority institutions enjoy autonomy and benefits.
🟥 SECTION 3 — Vaishno Devi Medical Institute: A Clear Example of Policy Imbalance
Vaishno Devi Shrine Board — funded entirely by Hindu donations — runs the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College.
Yet:
❗ Due to government quota rules, 84% of the seats go to non-Hindus.
Meaning:
- The money is Hindu
- The infrastructure is Hindu-funded
- The institution exists because of Hindu faith
- But the majority of benefits are diverted away from Hindu students
Now compare this with:
✔Al-Jama Safia (Muslim institution)
- 100% seats for their community
- 100% control by the community
- 100% use of funds for the community
✔Darul Uloom Deoband
- 100% community-based admissions
- 100% religious freedom
- Full autonomy
✔Waqf Board Institutions
- Community-specific land
- Community-targeted funds
- No government interference
The contrast is undeniable,and unacceptable
🟥 SECTION 4 — The biggest tragedy:
Hindu Dharma is banned in schools & colleges, while Islam & Christianity can be taught openly The most shocking inequality:
❌ Hindu Dharma (Gita, Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana)
- Labelled as “religious propaganda”
- Banned in government schools
- Not included in college curricula
- Not allowed as an academic subject in most universities
But—
✔ Islamic Studies (Quranic studies, Islamic history)
- Actively taught in universities
- Madrassas receive recognition
- Islamic Theology departments exist in many colleges
✔ Christian Studies
- Bible study & Theology fully permitted
- Christian Mission Schools receive grants
- Theology courses run freely in private and aided colleges
Meaning—
❗ Hindu children grow up without knowledge of their own Dharma,
- While students of other religions receive full institutional religious education.
This is systemic discrimination.
🟥 SECTION 5 — This is not a fight against any religion;
It is a fight for equality, fairness, and Hindu rights
The questions are legitimate:
⚠Why only Hindu temples face government control?
⚠ Why are Hindu donations used for non-Hindu purposes?
⚠ Why are Hindu institutions denied autonomy?
⚠Why is Hindu education banned while Islamic/Christian studies flourish?
This narrative is not anti-anyone.
- It is pro-equality.
- It is pro-fairness.
- It is about equality of-Hindu rights.
🟥 SECTION 6 — The Only Solution: Empower Hindu Organizations
If Hindus want:
- Temple autonomy
- Fair use of temple funds
- Equal religious rights
- Protection of Hindu education
- Preservation of culture and identity
Then Hindu society must strengthen its own organizations:
✔RSS
✔Vishwa Hindu Parishad
✔Bajrang Dal
✔Sanatana Seva Trusts
✔Temple Autonomy Movements
✔Hindu Educational & Cultural Trusts
💡 Strong organizations → Strong society → Policy change → Hindu rights restored
- Without organization, there is no influence.
- Without influence, there is no justice.
🟥 SECTION 7 — Donation is your right; Use it where it protects your Dharma
Your donation is your bhakti — but its impact is your responsibility.
✔Donate where it strengthens Hindu culture, education, and institutions
✔Avoid donating where your money is diverted away from Hindu interests
✔Support organizations that work for Hindu welfare
✔Fund institutions that teach Dharma, Sanskrit, Shastras
- This is not hatred. This is self-protection, wisdom, and cultural survival.
🕉️ SECTION 8: This is a battle for rights, autonomy, and the future of Sanatana Dharma
70 years of imbalance won’t correct itself. It requires:
- Awareness
- Unity
- Strong leadership
- Policy pressure
- Social organization
This struggle is not against any community. It is for restoring dignity, equality, and rights of the Hindu civilization, whose institutions have suffered the most under biased policies.
