By Mansi Kumari – A Daughter of Sanatan Dharma
I am Mansi Kumari, a Harijan by caste, hailing from Katihar, Bihar. Currently, I reside in Goa, pursuing software engineering. Today, as a daughter of Sanatan Dharma, I feel compelled to pen down my thoughts about the Rajputs, a community whose sacrifices and valor have been misrepresented and often ignored in history.
The False Narrative of Oppression
It is often said that Rajputs oppressed the so-called lower castes—forcing them into labor, denying them education, and perpetuating inequality. These narratives have been amplified on social media and through mainstream discourse. However, it’s essential to step back and look at the historical reality with an open mind.
Rajputs and the Islamic Onslaught: A Wall Against Aggression
Over 1400 years ago, the Islamic sword began its relentless expansion from Mecca, swiftly conquering vast regions—Persia, Syria, Egypt, and parts of Central Asia. The lands and cultures fell one after another, but when this aggressive force reached the Indian subcontinent, it faced unprecedented resistance from the Rajputs.
Frontline Warriors:
While other communities defended themselves only out of necessity, it was the Rajputs who stood at the forefront, voluntarily sacrificing themselves to protect Sanatan Dharma.
Rajput mothers sent their sons to battle with tilak on their foreheads, fully aware that they might never return.
When faced with defeat, Rajput women chose Jauhar over dishonor, ensuring their purity and dignity remained intact.
Generations of Sacrifice:
The Rajputs suffered immensely—entire generations of men were wiped out, leaving behind countless widows. Practices like Sati and Jauhar emerged from these tragic circumstances.
Population Decimation:
Over centuries of relentless warfare, the Rajput population dwindled to less than 1% in some regions, despite now being around 9% in certain areas. Meanwhile, the so-called oppressed communities grew and today claim over 54% of the population.
The Cost of Their Sacrifice
Despite their sacrifices, Rajputs have been vilified as oppressors, their stories of valor twisted by Bollywood and popular narratives:
Misrepresentation in Media:
Films often portray Rajputs as tyrannical landlords, overshadowing their critical role in protecting Hinduism from Islamic invasion.
Unsung Heroes:
Their resistance ensured that Islam’s advance halted in India, preventing it from spreading further into China, Korea, Japan, and Nepal.
A Legacy of Courage
The Rajputs stood unflinchingly, even offering their minor sons in battles to safeguard their faith. They never wavered from their duties, ensuring Hinduism survived:
The blood of Rana Pratap, whose gallant horse Chetak sacrificed itself for its master.
The fiery valor of Rajput queens, who chose flames over dishonor.
The gratitude of all Hindus today lies with the Rajputs, whose courage kept the light of Sanatan Dharma alive. Without them, many of us might be bowing in mosques today instead of temples.
A Call for Recognition and Unity
It’s time to rewrite this narrative and honor the Rajputs for their unmatched contributions:
To those who accuse Rajputs of caste oppression: delve into history before passing judgment. Understand the blood they shed and the battles they fought for our survival as Hindus.
To my Rajput, Brahmin, Jat, and Gujjar brothers and sisters: stand united to share these stories. Let the world know the truth about the sacrifices of Rajputs.
A Salute to Rajputana Valor
“Dhanya dhara, jahaan ki shakti aur swabhimaan kabhi bika nahi.
Dhanya tha Rana, jiska saamna Akbar tak kar nahi saka.”
The Rajput spirit remains immortal—a legacy of unmatched bravery and dignity. My eternal respect to the Rajputs and their lineage, who remind us that fear has no place in the dictionary of warriors.
Let us spread this truth far and wide. Share this post so that the sacrifices of the Rajputs are acknowledged and celebrated for generations to come.
🙏 Jai Rajputana! 🙏
