In the modern world, where democracy and secularism form the backbone of progressive societies, India finds itself at a crossroads between religious appeasement and national integrity. It’s time we recognize that certain outdated practices — like the burqa, niqab, and the unchecked expansion of radicalized madarsas and mosques — are no longer just cultural or religious matters, but have transformed into serious national security threats.
🌐 Gulf Nations Lead the Way – Why Can’t India Follow?
Contrary to the image built by radicalized voices in South Asia, the true Islamic nations of the Gulf (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait) have moved away from the oppressive symbolism of burqas and niqabs.
- Women in Gulf countries drive, serve in the military, run businesses, become ministers, and walk freely without face coverings.
- These countries no longer glorify jihad, and treat it as a threat to global peace and Islam itself.
- They do not allow mosques or madarsas to become breeding grounds of extremism.
- Most importantly, they do not consider South Asian Muslims as true followers of Islam, but as converted Muslims, clinging to misinterpreted rituals and promoting violence in the name of faith.
🕋 The Harsh Truth About South Asian Islam
- In contrast, countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and even sections within India have allowed a distorted version of Islam to take root:
- Burqas and Niqabs Are Being Used as Tools of Criminality:
- Countless cases of theft, trafficking, and even terror acts have used the burqa or niqab as a disguise.
- These garments make it nearly impossible for law enforcement to verify identities in public places.
Madarsas & Mosques: Sanctuaries or Terror Cells?
- In many areas, unregulated madarsas and local mosques are being used to harbor extremists, store arms, or radicalize youth.
- Foreign funding with radical Islamic agendas has increased, particularly from Wahhabi sources, promoting a political, not spiritual, Islam.
No Entry for Non-Muslims?
While Hindu temples, churches, and gurudwaras welcome people of all faiths, many mosques openly bar non-Muslims, claiming “purity of Islam” — a direct insult to India’s pluralistic ethos.
Jihad – A Dangerous Propaganda Weapon:
Whether it is Love Jihad, Land Jihad, or Violent Jihad, the term has been twisted into a war cry against non-Muslims, and is openly propagated in radical sermons, WhatsApp groups, and underground networks.
🚨 Security Before Sensitivities – The Nation Comes First
India has suffered too many terror attacks, communal riots, and social breakdowns in the name of religious sentiments. Appeasement cannot come at the cost of national security, women’s freedom, and democratic values.
It’s time to:
Ban the Burqa and Niqab in Public Spaces:
- These are not religious obligations in Islam, but political symbols of segregation and radicalism.
- Even Kyrgyzstan (90% Muslim population) has banned them due to terror threats.
Regulate Madarsas and Mosques with Central Oversight:
- Mandatory registration.
- Transparent foreign funding disclosures.
- Curriculum reform to include Indian history, Constitution, and moral education.
Strict Punishment for Jihad Propaganda:
- Treat radical preaching or anti-national fatwas as seditious.
- Disband organizations glorifying terror in the name of faith.
✅ Implement the Uniform Civil Code Immediately:
- No community should live under separate, outdated personal laws.
- Promote equality, unity, and national integration.

- Let us stop glorifying symbols that imprison minds and identities.
