The PIL filed in the Supreme Court against the Places of Worship Act 1991 has compelled Congress to reveal its true policies. This law, which was part of Congress’s so-called secular image since independence, has now been exposed by Ashwini Upadhyay’s challenge.
Congress’s Double Standards Exposed
In an effort to protect its Muslim vote bank, Congress finally stepped into the Supreme Court and supported the Places of Worship Act. This move has unmasked the reality behind Congress’s secularism. It reveals that Congress’s decisions and policies were crafted solely to appease a particular vote bank.
Just like TMC, AAP, RJD, AIMIM, AIMPLB, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, and leftist parties, Congress also decided to oppose the petition. While these parties openly demonstrated their support for Muslims, Congress, which has long confused Hindus under the guise of secularism, has now reached a point where its true face is out in the open.
Congress’s Dilemma and Support for Muslim League
Congress faced a dilemma: if it didn’t oppose the petition in the Supreme Court, its Muslim vote bank could crumble. On the other hand, if it opposed the petition, its anti-Hindu stance would be revealed. Ultimately, Congress decided to shed the mask it had worn for 70 years and openly align itself with the Muslim League.
Veteran Congress lawyers such as Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Salman Khurshid, Sanjay Hegde, and Prashant Bhushan have now actively stepped into the legal battlefield to uphold this law. Congress has filed a plea in the Supreme Court, demanding that no survey should be conducted of temples destroyed by rulers like Babur, Humayun, Tughlaq, Ghazni, Gauri, and Aurangzeb, and that the Places of Worship Act 1991 should remain unchanged.
A Challenge and Choice for Hindus
This incident lays bare Congress’s policies and mindset. It is a critical moment for the Hindu community to decide whom they will support. Congress, which takes an oath on the Constitution, runs on Hindu taxpayers’ money, yet creates policies that glorify Mughal rule, or leaders and organizations that stand up for Hindu rights and their sacred places.
The Struggle for Kashi and Mathura
As long as the Places of Worship Act remains in force, reclaiming Kashi, Mathura, and other historic religious sites will remain nearly impossible. The policies of Congress and other opposition parties are directly against the historical and cultural rights of Hindus.
