Recently, protests by Hindu organizations across India in response to the atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh and the attacks on temples have sparked widespread discussions. These protests were a natural and necessary response, as speaking out against the oppression of any community is a moral duty for society. However, unfortunately, some so-called secular journalists and self-proclaimed intellectuals began criticizing these protests.
These are the same writers who try to convince us that there are more important issues within India and that raising our voices for the rights of Bangladeshi Hindus is futile. This stance not only reflects their bias but also reveals the depth of their flawed mentality.
Double Standards
When a real or perceived injustice happens to a Muslim community in India, these writers immediately become vocal, calling for justice and equality. However, when atrocities are committed against Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, or other minorities in Muslim-majority countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, or Afghanistan, these voices fall silent.
For instance, many Muslims in India, who benefit from the protection and rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution, often participate in violent protests in support of Palestine. They oppose Israel and defend organizations like Hamas, showcasing their solidarity with international Muslim groups. Yet, when it comes to advocating for the rights of Hindus in Bangladesh, Pakistan, or Afghanistan, these same voices go silent.
India: The Only Homeland for Hindus
India is the only country where Hindus can freely practice their culture, traditions, and religion. If Hindus in India do not raise their voices for their brothers and sisters in Bangladesh, who will? Isn’t it an injustice to ignore their existence and rights?
Advice for Secular Journalists
Journalists who mock and dismiss these protests as “unnecessary” need to understand the following:
Prioritizing Issues: While it is essential to resolve internal issues in India, it does not mean that we should ignore the rights of Hindus in neighboring countries.
Adopting Equal Standards: If you claim to support human rights and justice, be as vocal for Hindu rights as you are for other communities.
Test the Patience of Hindus: Hindus in India are now awake. They will no longer tolerate being ignored. If you continue to make your writings biased, the public will respond accordingly.
For Hindus in India, speaking up for their community is not only their right but also their moral responsibility. Journalists trying to suppress this voice need to rethink their perspective. Hindu society is now awake and will stand firm in defending its religion, culture, and rights.
It is time for self-reflection. Incorporate impartiality and truth in your writings, or be prepared for a response from the people.Hindu Rights and the Double Standard of Secular Journalists.
