Sela Tunnel and Divyastra: “Don’t Mess With Us”

On March 9, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh reignited China’s ire, exposing Beijing’s frustration and questionable motives. China’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, lashed out by calling Arunachal Pradesh “Zangnan” and cautioning India against altering the “status quo.”
But the world knows: today’s India is not the India of 1962. The era of timidity is over. India now stands tall, led by a leader unafraid to confront China’s bluster with determination and action.

From Nehru to Modi: India’s Journey of Transformation
Congress’s Era of Fear
Under Congress’s rule, India’s policies along the China border were marked by hesitation and fear. In a shocking admission in 2013, then Defense Minister A.K. Antony confessed in Parliament that border roads were deliberately left undeveloped to prevent their potential use by Chinese forces in case of conflict.
This fear-driven policy wasn’t accidental. The 2008 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Congress and China’s Communist Party (CPC) has led many to question if Congress had agreed to curtail India’s border infrastructure.
Modi’s Era of Confidence
Contrast this with Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Over the past decade, India has:
Built a robust network of roads, tunnels, and bridges along the China border.
Strengthened its military presence in critical areas like Galwan Valley.
Ensured that India’s borders are no longer zones of neglect but bastions of strategic strength.

The Sela Tunnel: India’s Strategic Masterstroke
Engineering Excellence at 13,000 Feet
The Sela Tunnel, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi, is a landmark achievement:
Built at an altitude of 13,000 feet at a cost of ₹825 crores.
Connects Tezpur in Assam with the West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh.
Ensures year-round access for the Indian Army to the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Enhances rapid troop and logistics movement, vital for national security.
A Political Statement to China
China’s repeated claim over Arunachal Pradesh as “Zangnan” is a long-standing attempt to undermine India’s sovereignty. But the Sela Tunnel sends an unyielding message: Arunachal Pradesh is and will always remain an integral part of India.
What’s noteworthy is Congress’s silence on this monumental achievement, a silence that echoes its historical neglect of the region.

Divyastra: India’s Strategic Power Redefined
Agni-5 Missile Test: A Game-Changer
On the heels of the Sela Tunnel’s inauguration, India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully tested the Agni-5 missile. Dubbed “Divyastra” (divine weapon), this advanced missile underscores India’s growing strategic prowess:
Range: 5,000–5,500 km, capable of covering all of Asia, Europe, and the entirety of China.
MIRV Technology: Targets multiple sites simultaneously, evading even the most sophisticated anti-ballistic missile systems.
Elite Club Membership: India joins the US, Russia, China, the UK, and France in possessing MIRV-capable missile systems.
A Warning to Adversaries
“Divyastra” is not just a technological marvel; it’s a loud and clear message. India is no longer a passive observer in the global strategic arena. To adversaries like China and Pakistan, it conveys an unequivocal warning:
“This is the new India. Don’t test our patience.”

Congress: Friend of the Enemy or Betrayer of India?
Congress’s history is riddled with policies that many believe have compromised India’s security:
The 2008 MOU with China raises serious questions about whether national interests were sacrificed.
A legacy of appeasement towards China and Pakistan has often undermined India’s strategic edge.
In stark contrast, the Modi government has pursued an uncompromising approach, prioritizing national security and self-reliance.

“Don’t Mess With Us”: A Resurgent India’s Call to Action
India is no longer the submissive nation of the past. The combined achievements of the Sela Tunnel and the successful Agni-5 missile test highlight:
A transformed nation, confident and prepared.
A government that prioritizes security and sovereignty over political games.
A clear message to China: Stop underestimating India.
A Call to India’s Youth
To India’s youth, this is a call to action:
Celebrate and support leaders who are committed to India’s progress and security.
Be vigilant against forces that aim to weaken the nation from within.
Take pride in India’s achievements and defend its honor.

As Swami Vivekananda once said:
“Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”
This is the new India – bold, decisive, and unyielding. The message is crystal clear:
“Don’t mess with us.”
