Loot of Medical Mafia

The Truth About the Medical Mafia: Exploitation, Greed, and Helplessness

Healthcare, which should be a noble service, has sadly turned into a ruthless business. With doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies colluding, ordinary citizens are being openly exploited. This organized loot is so powerful that even the government and media seem helpless in stopping it.

 How Are People Being Exploited?

Overpriced Injections:
The essential Streptokinase injection for heart attack patients costs ₹700-900, yet doctors often prescribe it with an MRP of ₹9,000. What choice do you have in an emergency?

Typhoid Treatment Scam:
The wholesale price of Monocef injection is ₹25, but hospital chemists sell it for ₹53. What can you do?

Post-Dialysis Injection:
An injection that costs just ₹500 is sold by doctors for ₹1,800, and only they are authorized to procure it.

Expensive Antibiotics:
A generic medicine with the same salt costs ₹45, yet doctors often prescribe branded versions that cost ₹540.

Commission-Driven Tests:
Ultrasound costs ₹750 in private labs but just ₹240 in charitable dispensaries.
MRI scans often involve commissions of ₹2,000-₹3,000 for the referring doctor.

Unnecessary Surgeries:
Corporate hospitals often pressure doctors to meet ‘targets.’ As a result, patients are frequently misled into undergoing surgeries that are not required.

Refusal to Provide Affordable Medicines:
Most chemists avoid stocking cheaper generic medicines since expensive drugs bring them higher profits.

 Why Has This Situation Arisen?

🔹 Pharmaceutical Lobby Power: Drug companies pressure doctors and hospitals to promote their costly products for higher profits.

🔹 Media Silence: Driven by TRP ratings, media prefers to focus on sensational stories like celebrity scandals, reality TV, or cricket gossip, while ignoring the dark reality of the medical mafia.

🔹 Government Helplessness: The pharmaceutical lobby’s influence often prevents the government from taking strong action.

 What Can We Do?

Be Informed: Know your rights and question costly prescriptions or recommended tests.
Choose Generic Medicines: Affordable and equally effective, generic drugs are a smart alternative to expensive brands.
Rethink Expensive Treatments: Consider getting tests done at charitable dispensaries or government hospitals if needed.
Seek a Second Opinion: Before opting for surgery or costly treatments, consult another specialist.
