Waqf Board

Waqf Board: From Custodian to a Den of Loot – Time for Accountability and Reform”

For decades, the Waqf Board in India, initially envisioned as caretakers of Muslim religious endowments, have transformed into unaccountable institutions with unchecked powers. With the authority to arbitrarily declare any land as Waqf property—often without informing the actual owners—these Boards have amassed vast real estate holdings, second only to the Indian Railways. But instead of safeguarding religious trust assets, many of these Boards have morphed into what can only be described as dens of loot, land grab, and encroachment—often at the expense of Hindu temples, public property, and even private landowners.

Unmasking the Reality: What Went Wrong?

1. Illegal Land Grabs in the Name of Faith

There are numerous cases where properties, including Hindu temples, ancient shrines, schools, parks, and private lands, have been unilaterally declared as Waqf. Once a property is stamped with the Waqf label, it becomes nearly impossible for original owners to reclaim it, regardless of historical or legal ownership.

2. No Real Judicial Recourse

Under the current Waqf Act, even Indian courts are restricted in their ability to intervene once a land is declared Waqf. The only recourse is the Waqf Tribunal—which has historically leaned in favor of the Board—making a mockery of justice and property rights in a secular democracy.

3. Religious Asymmetry in a Secular Nation

Why should a religious body—exclusive to one community—be granted such sweeping powers without the same accountability that applies to Hindu temple trusts, Jain derasars, Sikh gurdwaras, or Buddhist monasteries? Why this selective privilege?

The Waqf Amendment Bill 2024: A Much-Needed Step

In response to growing public outrage, the Government of India has proposed the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 to restore balance, accountability, and justice. Key provisions include:

Transparent

  • Transparent Registration of all Waqf properties with clear documentation
  • Public Notification and Consent before declaring any land as Waqf
  • Judicial Oversight: Courts regain authority to review and reverse arbitrary Waqf decisions
  • Mandatory Audits to uncover and prevent misuse of funds and land

Why This Reform Matters to All Indians – Especially Hindus

  • Unequal Scrutiny: Hindu temple trusts face heavy audits, but Waqf Boards operate with impunity.
  • Public Loot in Disguise: Government schools, hospitals, parks, and welfare spaces have been quietly marked as Waqf.

Land Jihad Reality: The term is no longer theoretical. The Waqf system, in many cases, has become a front for encroachment and demographic warfare.

Rise for Dharma and Justice

This is more than just a bill—it is a battle to reclaim our cultural identity, land rights, and constitutional equality.

  • Support and spread awareness about the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024
  • Expose illegal land declarations and protect Hindu and public properties
  • Demand accountability from State Waqf Boards
  • Form citizens’ monitoring committees to ensure transparency
  • Petition your local MLAs and MPs to vote in favor of this reform

We have undertaken a focused initiative to raise awareness among Hindus regarding the challenges currently confronting us as a community, our Hindu religion, and our Hindu nation, and to deeply understand the potential consequences of these issues. Through this awareness, Hindus will come to realize the underlying causes of these problems, identify the factors and entities contributing to them, and explore the solutions available. Equally essential, they will learn the critical role they can play in actively addressing these challenges
