In Purvanchal, there were powerful mafia figures from every caste—Brahmins, Thakurs, Yadavs, Rajbhars. But when Mukhtar Ansari unleashed terror in 2006, massacring Hindus, burning shops, and seizing lands, no one spoke up. Why? Because everyone had some connection with Mukhtar.
✅ Mukhtar’s Reign of Terror:
- A prominent Thakur leader was forced to squat like a chicken for 1.5 hours at Mukhtar’s residence.
- MLA Krishnanand Rai was murdered, and even his sacred lock of hair was cut off.
- Thousands of Hindus were killed, their homes burned, and their lands seized.
But at that time, no one spoke of Thakur pride, Brahmin pride, Yadav pride, Dalit pride—everyone was hiding in fear.
Enter Yogi Adityanath
During the Mau riots, the government remained silent, and the administration was powerless against Mukhtar. Then, Yogi Adityanath took a stand. He announced he would go to Mau and set out with a massive convoy.
- He was stopped at Dohari Ghat and detained, but this put pressure on the government, leading to action against Mukhtar.
- This was the beginning of the rivalry between Yogi and Mukhtar.
Assassination Attempt on Yogi Ji
In 2008, at DAV College in Azamgarh, Mukhtar plotted to assassinate Yogi Ji.
- As soon as Yogi Ji entered the city, he was ambushed in Takiya, but miraculously survived.
- Over 25 years, Yogi Ji has faced many attacks but never backed down.
The Fate of Mukhtar and Atiq
Mukhtar, who once ruled Purvanchal with links to Dawood and ISI, has now been completely crushed under Yogi’s rule.
Similarly, Atiq Ahmed met the same fate.
