Chameleon Politics and the Sanatani Mask

Summary

  • This article presents a sharp, factual, and logical analysis of the ‘pseudo-Sanatani’ and ‘short-term Ram Bhakt’ masks donned by politicians as soon as elections approach in Indian politics.
  • The article highlights the controversial statements made from time to time by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and the top leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding holy festivals and centers of faith such as Hinduism, saffron attire, saints, Deepotsav, and the Ram Mandir, backing them with authentic contexts.
  • It clarifies how leaders who were vilifying Sanatan symbols until recently have suddenly started chanting Hindu names in view of the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
  • Finally, this article cautions the public that this entire exercise is merely a temporary political drama to capture the vote bank and divide society.

The Hindu Vote Bank Game in the 2027 Election Matrix

1. The Track Record of the Samajwadi Party: Continuous Insult of Temples and Saints

The perspective of the top leadership of the Samajwadi Party toward Sanatan Dharma, its holy monasteries, and faith becomes completely clear from their public statements chronologically:

  • Objectionable Remarks on the Sanctity of Temples (2022): When the entire Sanatani society was overjoyed at the manifestation of Baba Vishwanath during the survey of the Gyanvapi complex, Akhilesh Yadav hurt the sentiments of the majority society by stating, “In Hinduism, place a stone anywhere, put up a red flag, and it becomes a temple.” This statement, which trivialized and insulted faith, led to massive outrage among the saints of Kashi, Mathura, and Ayodhya.
  • Comparing Saints and Monastic Heads to the ‘Mafia’ (2024): Addressing a large public rally in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav allegedly compared the monastic heads and saints of Uttar Pradesh to the ‘mafia’ for political gain and to appease a specific section. In the holy tradition of India where saints are considered the guides of the nation, targeting its revered saffron-clad figures in this manner reflects their true ideological thinking.
  • Western Wisdom of ‘Christmas’ on Ayodhya Deepotsav (2025): Questioning the grand and world-famous Deepotsav held annually in Lord Ram’s city Ayodhya, Akhilesh Yadav termed it a waste of government funds. To demean the Sanatani tradition, he lectured that if the government must decorate, it should use modern lights like ‘Christmas lights’ on the lines of the West, which would look more beautiful. Making a mockery of the livelihoods of crores of poor potters associated with earthen lamps and the tradition of the Treta Yug exposes their priorities.
  • Calling Saffron Attire ‘Rusted Iron’: During the Sirathu rally in Kaushambi, SP MP Dimple Yadav took a direct jibe at the saffron robes of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, saying, “What is the color of iron when it gets rusted? I think the color of the clothes our current Chief Minister wears is the same as the rust on iron.” Calling ‘Saffron’—the symbol of sacrifice, renunciation, patriotism, and the rays of the sun—an indicator of rust proves her deep malice toward Sanatan symbols.

2. Congress and Rahul Gandhi: The Divisive Game of ‘Hindu’ vs. ‘Hindutva’

The top leader of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, has also lost no opportunity inside and outside Parliament to put Sanatani society in the dock and label them as violent:

  • Audacity to Call Hindus Violent in Parliament: Delivering a speech as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, the biggest temple of the country’s democracy, Rahul Gandhi directly targeted the majority society of the country and said, “Those who call themselves Hindu spread violence, violence, and hatred 24 hours a day.” Placing such a blemish on the global stage on the Hindu society, which is considered the most tolerant and peace-loving globally, was a gross insult to Sanatan.
  • The Artificial Division of ‘Hindu vs. Hindutva’: Rahul Gandhi and his entire contemplative circle have continuously argued that the Hindu religion is different and ‘Hindutva’ is different. They say in their rallies, “We have to drive these Hindutva-vadis out of the country.” This artificial division has been manufactured solely to weaken the Sanatani society by dividing them into castes and ideologies and to destroy their sense of pride.
  • Proclamation of a Destructive Battle Against ‘Shakti’: Referencing the most holy and revered word of Hinduism, ‘Shakti,’ at a major election rally in Mumbai, he stated that they were fighting against a ‘wrong power.’ In the Sanatan tradition, presenting ‘Shakti’—the supreme symbol of Mother Durga, Mother Kali, and public welfare—in a negative form for their narrow and frustration-filled politics has become their habit.

3. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP): The Fictional Story of Grandmother and the University Agenda

The third category in this race belongs to those leaders who have been at the forefront of changing colors like a chameleon and start reciting the Hanuman Chalisa as soon as elections arrive:

  • Sharp Opposition to Visiting the Ram Mandir: The top leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal, made controversial statements several times during and after the Ram Mandir movement. He tried to confuse Hindus by publicly citing his ‘grandmother,’ saying, “My grandmother used to say never go to the Ram Mandir even by mistake, because Ram can never reside in a temple built by demolishing a mosque.”
  • The Fallacy of Building a University Instead of the Temple: Manish Sisodia of the same party, striking at the legitimacy of the Ram Mandir construction, had stated that a Ram Mandir should not be built in Ayodhya, but instead, a large university should be established there. Today, this very party and its leaders shamelessly pretend to be great devotees of Ram for political benefits.

4. The Drama Until April 2027: Election Over, Devotion Over

The sudden ‘immense love’ that has currently emerged among these three categories of parties for Hindu faith, the Ram Mandir, and Sanatan is not due to any change of heart or sudden awakening of loyalty toward the Sanatani ideology. Behind this lies purely the political lust for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections to be held in April 2027.

  • The Sham of Kanwar Yatra and Fasts for the Vote Bank: As the 2027 UP elections draw closer, it will not be surprising to see Akhilesh Yadav participating in the Kanwar Yatra wearing saffron attire, Dimple Yadav sharing pictures from temples while fasting on every Monday of Shravan, and Rahul Gandhi visiting the Ram Mandir to bow his head. This is all a well-planned and divisive ploy to split Sanatani votes among themselves.
  • Returning to the Old Appeasement Form Post-Election: History bears witness that as soon as the April 2027 elections conclude, this entire Sanatani cloak will be discarded. The moment the elections are over, some will get busy offering sheets at shrines, some will open the government treasury to put roofs on madrasas, while others will again be seen abusing Hindus by calling them violent, intolerant, and uncivilized.

The Public Knows Everything

“Ram in the mouth, a knife in the pocket — the reality of these political faces donning the cloak of Sanatan in the election season is recorded in their past statements.”

  • The Sanatani society and the people of the country have always been wise, are wise, and will remain wise in the future.
  • The society thoroughly understands this pseudo and temporary devotion to Ram by those who never supported the resolve of the Ram Mandir, who ordered firing on Karsevaks, who called Ram imaginary, and who look for extravagance even in the holy lamps of Diwali.
  • The end of the hypocrisy of these leaders who treat Sanatan culture as a toy for the selfishness of their vote bank is certain.
